SYNOPSIS<\/strong>
A challenging journey of a mother and her young daughter living in a slum during the turmoil of a \u2018squatter\u2019 movement in Kathmandu. Making of TAHARA [SHELTER]<\/strong>
In 2011, an ethnographic photo story was published in Nagarik national daily in Nepal by the filmmaker himself. Realizing the complications and different layers of information regarding squatter and slum in Kathmandu valley, and especially how media and the government was interpreting issues, the filmmaker commenced a documentary film project in the same year. The first chapter was completed in 2013. In 2016, the film was re-edited primarily to make it shorter. Nepali title \u2018TAHARA\u2019 was also added.
SHELTER [TAHARA] was first shown at \u2018squatter\u2019 settlement in Thapathali where major part of the film was shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AWARDS<\/strong>
In April SHELTER won Best Non Fiction Film Award at 7th Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival in Kathmandu, 2018 and Special Mention Award, in Nepal-America International Film Festival, US, 2019. In relation to the film, few participatory photo\/video workshops were organised for the \u2018squatter\u2019, slum youths in Kathmandu.
